Letter from Taunton L1391 - Brother in Need of Assistance 09/01/14 - IAFF Local 1009
Brothers and Sisters:
It is my painful duty to inform you of a tragedy that recently occurred in Local 1391. On July 29 a crew of our firefighters being relieved of duty, changed from their duty uniforms into their work boots and headed to a brother firefighters house to finish up what they thought to be the last day of a roofing project.
Sad News, passing of Brother Tim Clayton's Son 08/30/14 - Bessemer Fire Fighters Association, IAFF Local 980
It is with extreme sadness that we report the passing of Brother Tim Clayton's son Luke.
Visitation will be Sunday 8-31-14 from 5 til 8 PM at Calera First United Methodist Church. Luke will lie in state Monday 9-1-14 from 1 til 2 PM, funeral service at 2 PM at Calera First United Methodist Church.
TIAA-CREF 08/30/14 - Norwalk Fire Fighters
The City of Norwalk will be bringing in a representative from Connecticut Higher Education Trust (CHET) for two meetings.
Mr. Rey Longoria is a Bi-lingual representative from TIAA-CREF who will be in City Hall on September 10, 2014 to make two presentations to City and Board of Education employees about the benefits of enrolling in Connecticut’s CHET 529 plan.

Local F-273 Softball Team Wins 4th Annual Kyle Wilson Memorial Softball Tournament 08/30/14 - IAFF Local F-273
This weekend the Local F-273 Softball Team participated in the 4th Annual Kyle Wilson Memorial Softball Tournament. After winning against both the Prince William County FD and Fairfax County FD softball teams in the morning, Local F-273 continued on in the brackets victoriously, and took the championship game late in the afternoon.

Organized labor, working together, shows how much the efforts paid off by unseating an incumbent commissioner. The final count that put Daniella Levine-Cava (Miami-Dade District 8) over the incumbent Lynda Bell was a 788- vote difference almost 52% to 48%.

At 1840, Captain Robert Hair will be retiring from the life he has known for almost 23 years, to pursue many more adventures in his life. I have the pleasure and honor to work with extraordinary man.

LFD Promotions/Swearing in. At 1600 hours on August 27th, 2014 Lexington FD had a swearing in ceremony. Lieutenant Don Chisolm was promoted to the rank of Captain, Firefighter Guy Monaco was promoted to Lieutenant, and Firefighter Chris Abisla was sworn into the department.
Brother Matt Malcomson 08/27/14 - Canton Professional Firefighters Association
Brother Matt Malcomson became very ill over the weekend. He was admitted to Mercy Hospital for a few days. While there, they were unable to identify the illness. After a few days of iv antibiotics they moved him to the ICU. Yesterday he was transferred to the Cleveland Clinic. Today they diagnosed him with Citro Bacteria.

Line of Duty Death 08/27/14 - IAFF 876
It is with great sadness that Local 876 has experienced a Line of Duty Death. Mark Normington pass away after a courageous battle with Cancer on Sunday, August 10, 2014. He was 58 years old. Mark began his service with Spokane Valley Fire Department on June 16, 1986 and retired on June 16, 2012.

There will be a PFFA E Board meeting on September 10th beginning at 1:00 PM. Lunch will be provided and will begin around 12:00. It is important for each local to have a representative in attendance if possible. Members are also welcome to attend.
